Stolf’s Blog 2/29/2010

I just don’t negotiate like normal people. For example…

Them: We’ll give you $10 a hour.
Me: How about 15?
Them: Well, how about 12?
Me: OK, how about 20?

See, they don’t realize that my 15 was already “discounted.” And while I don’t actually remember my Dad ever saying this, it sounds like him…I’d say: I can’t afford it. And he’d say: If it’s important enough, you can afford it.

try making fun of yourself for a while…it’s good practice, and people will love it, trust me.

(9) They’re a weird couple…on Hallowe’en, Carol won’t
bob for apples, and on Christmas, Bob won’t go caroling…

(11) I know it’s corny, but for Hallowe’en I’ll be the Master of Scaremonies…

(12) As a kid, I always like the movie “Son of Dracula,” which took place in
England, with the main character Count Alucard (read it backwards…)

13) Italian saying: One’s heart does not believe all that one’s lips utter.

POUTINE-ON-A-STICK

This map is from the book “Lost States: True Stories of Texlahoma, Transylvania, and Other States That Never Made It ” by Michael J. Trinklein.  The Transylvania Colony was founded by Daniel Boone in 1775, with the settlement of Boonesborough. Other American Transylvanias include a town in Louisiana, a county in North Carolina, and Transylvania College in Lexington, Kentucky. It means of course simply “across the woods.”
