B*A*K*E*R*S   D*O*Z*E*N

(1) There were sales Thanksgiving evening…”Black Thursday” our local paper called
them…some called Friday “Green Friday”…rechargeable batteries do make lovely gifts…

(2) …I just did my regular weekly grocery shopping on Black Friday…but even so,
peanut butter was buy one, get 9 free…I had to punch an old lady, but it was worth it!

(3) Gramps would say: Take hold of tomorrow with both hands…and hold on!

(4) The “Solution to Everything” is always wrong…but ironically, always worth a shot…

(5) As of 10:52 AM EST Saturday…looks like NBA will start 66-game season on
Christmas…I find that kind of surprising actually…also boring…but that’s just me…

(6) Guy de Maupassant: It is better to be unhappy in love than
unhappy in marriage, although some people manage to do both…

(7) Saw this weird old lady in a K-Mart ad…oops, that’s Jaclyn Smith…sorry, Angel…

(8) Journalist Bugs Baer wrote: Alimony is like buying oats for a dead horse…

(9) So you were surprised the Human Torch “died” and now
is “alive” again?…been reading comic books how long, partner?…

(10) …in the Golden Age, the 1940s, Marvel’s Human Torch was an android
created in a lab…the Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm is the “second” Torch…

(11) …but in the “old days,” as recently as the 1960s, newspapers weren’t
squeamish about calling someone who burned to death a “human torch”…

(12) Brunette by birth, Blonde by inclination…to each her own, sez me…

(13) Novelist Anthony Trollope: A man’s dinner is so important, he cannot
bring himself to believe it is a matter of utter indifference to everyone else…

POUTINE-ON-A-STICK

OK, because of my profession (radio) I’m more attune to advertising than many people…but even as a kid I was…loved a full-page color newspaper ad for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes with Instant Bananas featuring Jimmy Durante so much that to this day it’s framed and hanging on my kitchen wall…from 1966…I know…scary, isn’t it? So naturally this one caught my eye…Gobblepalooza?…not terrible…Hold onto your Giblets?…cheeky, but not bad…trying to tie in 3D with a 3 Day Sale?…a stretch, I’d say…faux 3D graphics?…understandable…what do you expect?…its a fake fake fake fake world…

But notice the footnote 2 after ENTIRE STORE ON SALE…searched the entire ad, couldn’t for the life of me find what that 2 referred to. But no need to really…any foot-note, asterisk, dagger, or double dagger simply means NOT!!  It’s all part of the standard BS of advertising, and people are so used to being lied to, they don’t give it a second thought, nor should they…it’s just going thru the motions…dumb, but there you go…until a more honest way of doing it comes along…well, maybe not in my lifetime… 😉 😉
